Earthquakes in East Nusa Tenggara
This interactive animation shows the location and magnitude of earthquakes in East Nusa Tenggara between 1970 and 2005. Of particular interest is the cluster of quakes that occured off Sumba in 1977, the largest of which caused a 15 metre high tsunami that struck the islands of Sumba and Sawu.

Interactive tidal graphs
This graphical user interface displays a series of daily tide graphs in a temporal sequence. Instead of displaying the daily tidal figures side by side, they are presented one day at a time within the same graph. A succession of graphs is activated by dragging the cursor sideways across the face of the graph. The sideways movement of the cursor creates an interactive animation showing how the tidal pattern changes from day to day. One benefit of this interactive design is the ease of locating a tide graph within a temporal series. However, it also reveals how the moon influences the tides.
Geometric modelling tool
This 3D modelling tool utilizes a cylindrical lattice to alter the surface contours of a surfboard. The application of a cylindrical lattice extends on free-form deformation (FFD), through which a design object is encased inside a lattice structure that can be deformed to alter the design object. FFD is an efficient and intuitive method of three-dimensional shape design and modification and many types of deformations are possible. However, the parallelepiped (box-shaped) structure of the lattice does limit the range of deformation that is possible. This limitation is resolved with extended free-form deformation (EFFD), which introduces a non-parallelepiped lattice structure, such as a cylindrical lattice. The arc of the cylinder's annular axis applies varying degrees of curvature to the design model, depending on the position of the design model relative to the cylinder's central axis.
